Our
one of the premium services include Basic Infertility Work up by which
we give assistance to the patients who have been trying to conceive for
a year or more (after 6 months if the woman is over 35). We also suggest
baseline fertility testing and help our patients in decision making.
We understand that it is our responsibility to guide our patients
properly, which is very crucial for the success of treatment.

A
semen analysis is crucial to the diagnostic work up of an infertile
couple.Semen can be analysed by the WHO or the more stricter Kruger
criteria. Usually, three days abstinence is required before we can
perform semen analysis
A Hysterosalpingogram is performed to evaluate the
tubal status. It is a day care procedure. No anaesthesia is required.
Many patients have a lot of fear attached with this procedure, usually
from hearsay. When properly done, majority of patients will not complain
of pain.

This
gives us an indication of the status of the uterus, endometrium and
ovaries. It also identifies ovarian cysts, pelvic collection,
hydrosalpinx etc.

This
is a process of serial ultrasonic monitoring of the ovarian follicles to
identify when the egg is mature and then consequently advise either
natural contact, intrauterine insemination or proceed with egg
collection as in in-vitro fertilisation.

Hormonal
profile includes day 2 or 3 measurement of Follicle Stimulating Hormone
(FSH), Luteinizing Hormone (LH) and Estradiol. This gives an indication
of the ovarian reserve of the lady.
We also measure estradiol and progesterone to monitor a gonadotrophin
stimulated cycle. Thyroid profile (T3, T4 and Thyroid Stimulating
Hormone) and Prolactin, amongst others, are important hormones that aid
us in fertility treatment.
